Each approved equine rescue and retirement facility may order an amount of equine vaccine based on need, once per year (spring vaccination season), subject to approval by the AAEP and Merck Animal Health. While we make every effort to fulfill as much demand as possible, we cannot guarantee fulfillment of all vaccine requests as the amount requested may exceed current program vaccine supply.
An approved equine rescue and retirement facility may continue to reorder equine vaccines through the program. One application a year per rescue or retirement facility is accepted. Equine rescue and retirement facilities and AAEP-member veterinarians may also apply for a single vaccine as indicated on the order form.
The Unwanted Horse Veterinary Relief Campaign covers only the initial primary utilization dose. Additional doses may be purchased independently of the program.
Vaccines will be shipped via standard ground delivery directly to the veterinarian’s office for distribution to the rescue or retirement facility. Standard shipping is included at no additional cost. Overnight express shipping is available, but additional fees will be the responsibility of the equine rescue and retirement facility.
Vaccines should always be administered under the direction of a licensed AAEP-member veterinarian.
